A CLUMP OF of software developed by boffins at Indiana University School of Informatics claims to be able to tell if your writing was written by a machine. According to the New Scientist the software is a data mining technique.

It searches the text for subtle, short and long-range word or word string repetitions that exist in human texts, but not in many classes of computer-generated texts.

From my few tests (it needs quite a big chunk of text) it isn't very acurate.
