Only 244 copies of Genuine Windows Vista sold in China

-----------------------------------

Microsoft spent millions of dollars advertising its next generation OS <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>'Windows Vista'<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> in China,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> in fact the IT juggernaut threw up the biggest Vista Ad on the 421 meter high Jin Mao tower in Shanghai China.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> However after 2 weeks <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>(Jan 19 to Feb 2)<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> from launch Microsoft managed to sell a mere 244 copies of Windows Vista.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
Software piracy is rampant in the middle kingdom and a pirated version of Vista sells for a mere <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>$1 on the streets.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> The following numbers are quoted by Windows Vista chief distributor in Bejing.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
They even make great packaging <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>(complete with typos)<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>:<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> http:<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>/<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>/www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=39589

It seems microsoft didn't like the free publicity.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> They claim things are not that bad.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> But again no numbers.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> Just a comparison to XP.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> I think XP must have sold about 50 original copies in the first couple of months <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>:P <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
Microsoft can only try and put a good face on some of the news on the Vista front,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> such as Dell's decision to bring back XP,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> for example.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> There's only so much you can say to make that sound good.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
But,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> Microsoft says that a report that it sold only 244 copies of Vista in China in the first two weeks is just plain wrong,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> the Softies say.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>"Recent speculation regarding sales data in China is inaccurate,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>"<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> Microsoft said in response to an inquiry from CNET News.com.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>"We're pleased with the positive consumer response we've seen around the globe to the security and usability enhancements in Windows Vista-<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>-and China is no exception.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>"<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> <b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
Microsoft wouldn't totally clear things up by saying just how many copies it has sold in China,<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b> but it did say the first month's sales of boxed Vista copies in China were double those XP had in its first month.<b style="color:#FFA34F"></b>
